Seems the MSM might be getting the point at least a little:

Gay Benefits in Health Bill

According to the New York Times:

"Supporters of gay rights have long been trying to change the tax treatment of health benefits provided by employers to the domestic partners of their employees. In effect, such benefits are now treated as taxable income for the employee, and the employer may owe payroll taxes on their fair-market value.
Under the bill, such benefits would be tax-free, just like health benefits provided to the family of an employee married to a person of the opposite sex."
Looks to me like a bit of liberal incrementalism at work here.

Compassion

Liberals always claim the high road, and journalists parrot their words, “We’re compassionate!” I have two words in response to that: ”You lie!”

The proof is in their actions as they waste billions of dollars on programs that fail, programs that the American people have to pay for.

Let’s take a look:

$ 787,000,000,000,000 stimulus bill to create jobs, managed to create maybe 500,000 jobs.

$ 404,000,000,000 cuts in Medicare, which already denies coverage.

Discontinuance of the Medicare advantage account which covers seniors for the services Medicare denies.

Taxes on anyone who doesn’t want to pay for coverage.

$ 1,000,000,000,000 per year (a VERY conservative estimate.) to pay for Health care.

$ 1,800,000,000,000 annual increase in the deficit. (this may turn out to be a very conservative estimate.)

All in all an almost incalculable increase in the cost to the American taxpayer. They claim it’ll be paid for by the rich, but any sentient person knows that’s impossible, unless the rich includes anyone who has a job. (At least those who can find one. At the rate were going, they’ll need to increase taxes on unemployment benefits to pay for it all.)

That doesn’t include the peripheral effects that will destroy the quality of life of all Americans.

In my book that adds up to a callous disregard for nearly every American citizen. If that’s their idea of compassion, I’d hate to see their definition of cruel and inhumane.
